Job Purpose
The Clinical Officer will provide safe, professional and responsive clinical services at the Lions Strength Dispensary. The role will be responsible for assessing and managing patients, providing appropriate treatment, promoting preventive and primary healthcare, maintaining accurate medical records, and facilitating timely referrals for cases requiring higher-level care.
The Clinical Officer will also support the effective day-to-day operation of the dispensary and contribute to a healthy and safe environment for staff, learners, volunteers and other members of the Lions Strength community.

Key Responsibilities
- A. Clinical Care
- Assess patients, take medical histories, conduct examinations and provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment within scope of practice.
- Provide first aid, emergency stabilization, follow-up care and referrals where necessary.
- Prescribe and dispense medicines in line with approved clinical guidelines.
- Provide health education and maintain patient confidentiality.
- B. Preventive & Primary Healthcare
- Promote healthy practices, preventive care and wellness among the Lions Strength community.
- Support health screening, awareness, counselling, infection prevention and community health activities.
- C. Dispensary & Medicines Management
- Maintain a clean, organized and adequately equipped dispensary.
- Manage medicines, medical supplies and consumables, including stock levels, expiry dates, storage and disposal.
- Maintain accurate dispensing and stock records and promptly report shortages or other concerns.
- D. Medical Records & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, secure and confidential patient records covering consultations, treatment, referrals and follow-ups.
- Prepare routine clinical reports and provide relevant anonymized health information for organizational planning.
- E. Referral & External Health Services
- Maintain referral linkages with hospitals, laboratories, specialists and other healthcare providers.
- Coordinate and follow up referrals and support emergency transfers when required.
- F. Occupational & Campus Health
- Provide first aid and clinical support for workplace and campus-related injuries and illnesses.
- Support health, safety, emergency preparedness and other authorized workplace health initiatives.
- Provide appropriate general health advice to management while protecting patient confidentiality.
- G. Professional & Compliance Responsibilities
- Comply with Kenyan laws, professional standards, clinical guidelines and Lions Strength policies.
- Maintain valid professional registration/licensing and undertake continuing professional development.
- Uphold ethical conduct, safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection and non-discrimination requirements.
- Report safeguarding concerns, serious incidents and other risks through appropriate channels.
Minimum qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification recognized in Kenya.
- Valid registration with the relevant professional regulatory body.
- Valid practising licence.
- Must have valid professional indemnity insurance or be willing to obtain and maintain such insurance as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or First Aid will be an advantage.
- At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in a dispensary, health centre, clinic or similar primary healthcare setting.
- Experience in outpatient consultation, treatment, referrals and medical record management.
- Good knowledge of primary healthcare and infection prevention and control.
