Job Purpose
StartUp Lions Assets Kenya Limited (SLAK) and Lions Strength CBO, is seeking a qualified and competent Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the health services team at its Loropio Dispensary.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing reliable and timely laboratory diagnostic services to support patient care while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, confidentiality, and professional practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine laboratory tests accurately and promptly, including specimen collection, processing, analysis, and reporting.
- Ensure proper patient identification, specimen handling, storage, referral, and disposal in line with approved procedures.
- Maintain laboratory quality assurance and quality control standards and promptly report critical results, errors, and incidents.
- Operate, clean, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment, ensuring timely reporting of faults and servicing needs.
- Manage laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies, including stock monitoring, proper storage, and expiry-date checks.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers, test results, statistics, and routine reports, including electronic health information systems where applicable.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention, laboratory safety, PPE use, and biomedical waste management.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional, ethical, and safeguarding standards.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and other health facility staff to support effective patient care and referrals.
- Participate in outreach, health screening, quality improvement, audits, and other dispensary activities as required.
- Provide guidance to interns, students, or support staff assigned to the laboratory.
- Undertake continuous professional development and remain compliant with relevant regulatory and professional requirements.
Minimum qualifications
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences/Technology from a recognised institution.
- Must be registered and licensed to practise in Kenya by the relevant regulatory authority.
- Must hold a valid practising licence.
- Relevant experience in a hospital, health centre, dispensary, NGO, or community health setting will be an added advantage.
- Experience working in a remote or rural setting will be an advantage.
- Good computer, communication, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
